Amer Fort, also known as Amber Fort, is a historic fortress located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Built in the late 16th century by Raja Man Singh I, the fort is renowned for its artistic blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Amber Fort History

  • Amer Fort built during the time period of Mughal-Rajput era. Red sandstone & marble was used to construct this palace.
  • There are four courtyards in the fort – Diwan-e-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-e-Khas, and Sukh Niwas.
  • The Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace) is the main highlight of Amber Fort which is designed with intricate mirror work.

Best Time to Visit

  • Winter (October – March): Best time period to visit because of pleasant weather & festival season.
  • Summer (April – June): In this time temprature goes to high. So avoid afternoon visits.
  • Monsoon (July – September): Scenic views but humid.
  • Morning (8 AM – 10 AM) or Late Afternoon (4 PM – 5 PM) is ideal to avoid crowds!

  • Wear comfortable shoes because there’s a lot of walking!
  • Early morning is the best time for best experience because of less crowd & great photos.
  • Elephant rides are available only in the morning (8:00 AM – 11:30 AM) at Amer.
