History of Agra Fort
- Construction was started in 1565 by Emperor Akbar and later the emperor Shah Jahan enhanced it.
- Red sandstone used in constuction. There are white marble palaces inside it.
- The fort served as a seat of governance, a royal residence, and even a prison in history.
- Main structures of the fort are: Jahangir’s Palace, Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khas, Sheesh Mahal, Musamman Burj.

- This magestic fort has four gates, but only one gate – Amar Singh Gate is open to the public.

- Over 1.5 million bricks were used to build the fort.

- By Train: The Railway Station is 1.5 km from the fort.
- By Air: The distance between Agra Airport (Kheria) and the fort is 8 km.
- By Road: Well connected to famous cities of India like Delhi, Jaipur, and Gwalior.
- Autos, taxis, and e-rickshaws are available from all tourist places.
Best Time to Visit
- November to February (Winter): Best time to visit because of pleasant weather.
- March to May (Summer): In this time temperature rises. So avoid afternoon visits.
- June to September (Monsoon): Scenic views, but humid

- The fort is enormous. There will be lots of walking included in the exploration. So wear comfortable footwear.
- Hire a local guide if you want to explore the historical context.
- The temperature goes high in the afternoon. So visit the fort in the early morning or late afternoon
- 1-2 hours are enough to cover all the places in the fort, so pair your tour with a visit to the Taj Mahal.
